We are taught to recycle paper, cans, bottles and plastic but marketers rarely discuss the value of repackaging and repurposing content. Publishers and marketers alike have embraced content syndication and RSS but few have considered the value beyond the actual syndication. Consider an alternative communication channel that reaches a new or different audience.
Repurposing and repackaging content or information so that it can be consumed through a variety of mediums is not a new concept. Many businesses today sight increased communication as a common goal. Cost conscious businesses with tight budges are often interested in minimizing work loads and cost, while increasing communication. By presenting the same information in different ways and formats, businesses are able to increase the reach and communication, while remaining cost conscious.

M-Audio is releasing some great hardware designed with the podcaster in mind:
1. MicroTrack 24/96 Winner of the Expo Best Portable Recorder Award (under $500)
2. Podcast Factory (I believe I mistakenly called this the podcast in a box in the audio)
iPodder Lemon (one of the most popular podcatchers) has changed its name to Juice due to legal threats from Apple.

I wanted to post this last night, but the internet connection at my hotel was at a crrrrawwwwwwl.
Here are the highlights from Day 1 of the Portable Media Expo:
- Libsyn was at the expo prom yesterday to introduce their new Libsyn Lovers service
- Talked to the girls from IODA, a very cool service that provides lots of music that is licensed to be freely used on your podcast. They have some very cool small labels on their roster.
- I had lunch with Michael Carrino of the Digital MediaCast Experiment and the elusive Michael H–philanthropist, benefactor and producer of podcasts (he flew a handful of well-known podcasters out at his expense).
- Chatted with Audible about their new WordCast service that helps you track your stats and make money with your podcast.
- Watched Brother Love plant a wet kiss on Soccer Girl’s lips “on the air” at the Podcast Pickle booth
- Spoke to Joe Hiyashi of Yahoo about the “double-listing” issue in the Yahoo Podcast directory. He said a solution is in the works and was very attentive to my input.
- Found some very intriguing new podcasting tools that are coming down the pipeline from Paramangus.”
- Heard some great keynote speeches. More details are in the podcasts below.”
Stay tuned for more updates all weekend long “almost live” from the Portable Media Expo.
