The nominations for the Peoples Choice Podcasting Awards are in. The nominations really cover the spectrum from well-known to not so well known.There are 10 nominees in each category.  Voting will open on July 28th and close on August 11, 2007.

iPhone Numbers Disappoint

AT&T Inc. wiped some of the glow off Apple iPhone on Tuesday, releasing numbers that showed fewer people than expected signed up for service in the first two days of the multimedia cell phone's release.


AT&T — the iPhone exclusive carrier — said it activated 146,000 iPhones on June 29 and 30, a number that disappointed investors following some analyst forecasts that Apple would sell 500,000 or more iPhones in its first weekend.

iPhone Security Issues

Hackers could take control of an iPhone if its owner visits a doctored Web site or Internet hotspot, security researchers reported Monday.


The vulnerability of the vaunted device, Apple Inc first cell phone, is only theoretical for now. There are no reports of criminals actually taking advantage of the security glitch to remotely access an iPhone.

But if it were exploited, hijacked iPhones could be very useful to the same gangs that take over personal computers and use them to disseminate spam, said Charlie Miller, principal security analyst at Independent Security Evaluators, which discovered the flaw.
